Qualities of a Spiritual Movement leader

What are the qualities to look for in a Spiritual movement leader? How can one be a movement leader and what does it mean to be an MSLVI student leader? Well these might be the questions that linger in your mind as you hear the acronym MSLVI. Being a movement leader or MSLVI student leader is the Journey that we want every disciple to embark on. This is the standard that will enable a disciple to be truly called as a movement or student leader in CCC. Leadership is simply defined as “influence”. It is not a position, or power or a title. And “influence” is the ability to attract someone to follow us. Each one of us wield influence some way or the other but true leadership is influencing people to take positive action that will change lives and transform society for the greater good and only the Gospel has the power to do this. Bible says it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. (Rom 1:16). Well let us look at each of the letters that MSLVI stands for and ...

Cure of Anxiety

Being anxious and worried is the most common problem that many Christians face in their daily life. Being worried about tomorrow, worried about your children, worried about finances, worried about your job, worried about your future, your health it can go on and on, an endless list of worries. The funny thing is that in most of these cases we don't have much control over it, we cannot change anything about tomorrow, we don't control it. That is exactly why Jesus asked this question, "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" Have you ever stopped for a moment to ponder on this question. It is only then that we realize the futility of worrying. We are in fact taking off precious hours from our life by worrying. Being anxious adversely affects our life, our health, our outlook and also it affects the people around us. No one likes to be around a person who is chronically worried about different things in his life an eternal pessimist, a perennial complai...

Connecting and engaging the Emerging Generation of India

In order to understand the emerging generation of India we decided to conduct an HCD process where 'H' stands for Hearing, 'C' for Create and 'D' for deliver. For the hearing part of the HCD we selected two metros - Bangalore and Kolkata. The hearing interviews were conducted in some of the strategic and prime campuses in these two cities for a period of five months starting from July 2010. The interview had series of probing and wide open questions on various aspects of a student’s life ranging from friends , family, finances to future. The interviewer took time to observe, listen and hear keenly rather than just conducting a survey. A total of 250 students were interviewed from the two cities and the hearing process has thrown out some interesting findings about the emerging generation of students in India. Some key findings : Almost 75% of the students interviewed said that their major leisure activity and idea of fun was hanging out with friends. 70% o...

Letting Go

Yesterday was Daniel's first day at school.A part of me just missed him so much but a part of me knew that it was for his good.Letting go is really tough but something essential.Made me think of many things I still hold on to instead of letting them go.Its easy to say cast your burden on Jesus but to really leave them with HIM is a challenge that only He can help us do.Today Daniel didn't cry at school and it was easy for me too. The Lord takes care of our anxieties when we completely let go of them into HIS care!

What the date 26th means in the Bible?

Earthquakes - Read Haggai 2:6 Coincidence? Or merely picking the "right" natural catastrophes, even if they were the largest and most disastrous in the last few centuries? Or is God really trying to remind us of what has been foretold in the scriptures? Haggai 2:6 goes on to say: "I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory. Coincidences? Interesting! The Hebraic numerical value of the Hebrew letters of God's Holy name: YHVH is 26! Something to think about! This matches your Haggai 2:6 reference perfectly! He is shaking the nations especially the nations where pagan worship or worship of false gods is prevalent! In His mercy and grace He'll shake some to save many! Blessed be His Name! Shalom Aleichem! Take a look at this list too. Gujarat India earthquake 26 Jan 2001 The Rhodes earthquake 26 June 1926 Taiwan earthquake 26 April 2010 Jer 4:26 I ...

Bread of life

It was after that amazing miracle of Jesus multiplying the little boys lunch into something that will satiate the hunger of 5000 people that the crowds started following Him in droves looking for Him and thronging behind Him and even planning to make him their king. Jesus understood their hearts and motives, He says "Why are you looking for me? Is it because you saw miraculous signs? The truth is, you are looking for me because you ate the bread and were satisfied" . John 6:26 They were following Him for the wrong reasons and then He goes on to offer them an irresistible offer, Jesus tells the crowd that He can give them food that will not perish but will give them eternal life. The people were still unable to understand it, they were asking for a sign, a miracle like the manna from heaven which Moses gave them. 2000 years back if the crowd followed Him for the food, today we see this being replayed in a much larger canvas, people follow Jesus for the wrong reasons, and the...

'I' must decrease!

John the Baptist was older to Jesus, He came before Jesus, he started and established a very fruitful ministry before Jesus did, he had more people following him before they started turning to Jesus, in fact he was even instrumental in the baptism of Jesus. Humanly speaking he had all the right to feel bad and threatened about the growing popularity of Jesus and His ministry. But what makes him stand out as a true personification of Humility. At one point in John's life His disciples come to him and says, "Teacher, remember the man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan River? He is the one you were telling everyone about. He is also baptizing people, and many are going to him." John 3:26. It was like the disciples of John were very concerned about their masters ministry, they were actually asking John, boss you are loosing your popularity, the other guy is taking all your people, do something about it? A typical scenario in today's churches and ministry...
