Gift of encouragement

Encouragement is the greatest gift that you can give some one around you. Everybody loves to hear a few words of encouragement, it makes your day, it peps you up, it brings a spring to your steps. It is not natural for everyone to be an encourager, words of appreciation does not automatically come to most of us, we are more prone to find out the defects and faults in others and highlight it. To appreciate someone or to acknowledge a good work done needs to be more of an intentional effort for most of us, for some to be an encourager is a natural gifting, like Barnabas (Son of encouragement) of the Bible who encouraged Paul.

A few words of encouragement can motivate people to achieve exceptional results, drives them to work harder and maximize their God given potential. We don't have to look for great skills, talents or accomplishments to appreciate someone. It can be on small, mundane and routine little things of life that we find opportunities to utter a few words of appreciation. Our words have power to build up lives, to edify, to motivate and also remember it has the power to destroy, tear down and hurt people. How are we using our words?

Most often we long to hear encouraging words from people around us, we want them to acknowledge and appreciate us. Just think about a day when some one came up and told you some thing good about you, something good about your work, acknowledged and praised your efforts. How did you feel about it? Great , excited, overjoyed right!! You have the power to make people feel the same way you felt about you. God has given that power in each of our words. Have we used it lately? or are you waiting for someone to do that to you? Do not wait, take the initiative and bless those around you with words of encouragement. Have a great day!!.
